UK freezes assets of Alfa-Bank, ALROSA, Sberbank CEO, Gazprombank

LONDON, Mar 24 (PRIME) -- The U.K. will freeze assets of Gazprombank, Russian Agricultural Bank, diamond giant ALROSA, Alfa-Bank, state railway monopoly Russian Railways, hydropower giant RusHydro and imposed sanctions on Sberbank CEO German Gref, it said in a document on Thursday.

The blacklist of companies also comprises the Russian Venture Company, defense companies Titan-Barrikady, Kronshtadt, Planar, Radioavtomatika, All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials Kurchatov Institute, the Makeyev Rocket Design Bureau, the Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR), the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development (UBRD), and Bank for Small and Medium Enterprises Support (SME Bank).

London also imposed sanctions on Russia’s largest shipping company Sovcomflot.

The blacklist of individuals was expanded by former Sberbank First Deputy CEO Lev Khasis, TCS Group founder Oleg Tinkov, Gazprom Deputy CEO Oleg Aksyutin, Rosneft First Vice President Didier Casimiro, Rosneft First Vice President for Oil, Gas, and Offshore Business Development Zeljko Runje, tycoon Yevgeny Shvindler, Melitopol’s acting Mayor Galina Adnilchenko, and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s niece Polina Kovalyova.

Blacklisting entails a freeze of assets and a ban on entry to the country for the individuals.

Britain has imposed sanctions on the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus and four defense Belarus’ companies.
